Open the image, then long-press (phone) or right-click (computer) to save. 1280×720 exists only if the uploader added a custom HD thumbnail. Thumbnails belong to their creators — use them for reference, not re-uploads.
How to use it
Paste a link. The tool shows the thumbnail in four sizes; open the one you want and save it (long-press on a phone, right-click on a computer). Everything runs in your browser using YouTube's public image addresses.
When the HD version is missing
The 1280×720 "maxres" version only exists if the uploader added a custom thumbnail in HD. Older and auto-generated thumbnails stop at 640×480 or 480×360.
Good uses
- Saving your own thumbnails when you've lost the original file.
- Studying what works in your niche — collect the top 20 thumbnails and look for patterns in faces, text size and colour.
- Planning a redesign by comparing old and new side by side.
Respect copyright
Thumbnails belong to their creators. Using someone else's thumbnail on your video can get a copyright strike and breaks YouTube's metadata rules. Use the size checker for your own designs.
