YouTube tag generator

Type a topic, get a comma-separated tag list trimmed to YouTube's 500-character limit — ready to paste into Studio.

Tags matter far less than your title, thumbnail and first 30 seconds. Use a few accurate ones; YouTube ignores stuffing.

How to use it

  1. Type the main phrase your video is about — the one you'd type into YouTube search yourself.
  2. Add a couple of related phrases separated by commas if the video covers more than one thing.
  3. Copy the list and paste it into Studio → video → Details → Show more → Tags.

The tool adds the modifiers Indian viewers actually search with — "in hindi", "kaise kare", "for beginners", the current year — and trims the list so it fits YouTube's 500-character cap.

How much tags matter

Less than most guides suggest. YouTube says tags mainly help with commonly misspelled words; the title, thumbnail, description and how viewers respond do almost all the work. Use a handful of accurate tags, spend your energy on the title, and check the SEO checklist before you publish.

Tags vs hashtags

Tags are hidden and go in the Tags field. Hashtags (#like_this) are visible, go in the title or description, and the first three show above your title. For those, use the hashtag generator.

Frequently asked questions

How many tags should I use?

There's no magic number. 5–15 accurate tags is plenty; YouTube ignores tag stuffing and may treat misleading tags as spam.

Can I copy a competitor's tags?

You can see them with the tag extractor, but copying them rarely helps — their ranking comes from their audience and history, not their tags.

Do Hindi tags in Devanagari help?

If your viewers search in Devanagari, yes. Many Indian viewers search in Hinglish (Roman script), so include both when it fits.
